How we can fillet the corners in COMSOL Multiphysics

Fillet of the corners is one of the most attractive, necessary operations in geometry creations. In this tip we decide to fillet the corners in a geometry to achieve a smooth curvature. The Heating Circuit CMS is used to illustrate it. In this tip we will do it in work plane of a 3D geometry but the steps are the same in the 2D and 3D geometry.

Create a Polygon Using External File - 01

Work Plane 1 (wp1)>Fillet 1 (fil1)

  1. In the Work Plane toolbar, click Fillet.
  2. On the object pol1, select Points 2–8, 23–29, 34, 36, 37, 41, and 42 only. It might be easier to select the points by using the Selection List window. To open this window, in the Home toolbar click Windows and choose Selection List. (If you are running the cross-platform desktop, you find Windows in the main menu.)
  3. In the Settings window for Fillet, locate the Radius section.
  4. In the Radius text field, type 10.
  5. Click Build Selected.

Work Plane 1 (wp1)>Fillet 2 (fil2)

  1. In the Work Plane toolbar, click Fillet.
  2. On the object fil1, select Points 6–12, 26–31, 37, 40, 43, 46, 49, and 50 only.
  3. In the Settings window for Fillet, locate the Radius section.
  4. In the Radius text field, type 5.
  5. In the Work Plane toolbar, click Build All.

Form Union (fin)

In the Home toolbar, click Build All.

The geometry should look like the figure below.
